The Artist's Note

This piece contains the entire Book of First John in the Bible. While creating this piece I found myself in the Nightwatch at the International House of Prayer, Kansas City, standing on the wall of intercession, and asking the Lord to lead my heart into His heart and into His love. What does love look like? How should we love? How does one experience love and grow in it?

1 John 3:16 says, “We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us…” Oh that we would be drawn back to the cross, to gaze upon love and how love responds. As we choose to turn aside from other lovers and look into the eyes of the One who is love, we will become like Him and walk in love as He did. To behold Him is to become like Him. Here is where I will stay, at the foot of the cross, gazing and praying. It is only from this place that we can do the same towards our brethren…only from here will we lay down our lives for each other. I pray that the Lord will lead our hearts into His love; that the first and second commandments will be true in our lives. Love and love well.
